First Presbyterian Church of Sainte Genevieve offers assistance to people in the city limits of Sainte Genevieve. The pantry is supported by church member donations and community effort such as Girl Scout and Boy Scout food, United Postal Service drives, personal care product drives and private donations.
In 2013, the Food Pantry served an average of 30 to 50 people per month.
Donating to the Pantry:
The Pantry Committee accepts non perishable food items such as canned or boxed foods. Occasionally, we will accept frozen food products. The most needed items include macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, canned meats, ravioli, dried pasta and sauces, cereals, mashed potatoes, canned fruit and vegetables, and packaged dessert mixes. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Helping Hands gives personal care items such as toothpaste/brushes, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo/conditioner, body wash or bar soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
If you have questions about donating items, please call the church office during food pantry hours (Wednesdays, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m).
Food Pantry volunteers are always welcome and needed. Generally, two to three people are scheduled each week to fill orders and distribute food. If you are interested in serving, please call the church office during food pantry hours and speak to one of the volunteers.
What we provide:
Eligible families are invited to pick up food once a month. If you are in need, you will receive food based on the number in your family.
The Food Pantry is unable to assist with rent, utility bills or medical bills, gas or fresh food vouchers at this time but may consider this option in the future.
Pantry hours: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the first 4 Wednesday of the month (The Pantry is not open if there is a 5th Wednesday in a month). In the event of inclement weather, please call the office before the start of the pantry hours to make sure we are open. (573) 883-3272.
