A few weeks ago, First Presbyterian Church in Ste. Genevieve placed a
"Blessing Box" on their front lawn and filled it with non-perishable food
and basic toiletries available to any and all who need it.
The concept is simple. The box is a miniature food pantry - receiving
items from those who want to donate, and offering it to those who need them.
Whether you're taking or giving, you can just go to the blessing box.
There's not a lock on it - it's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The idea was found while scrolling through Facebook.
Knowing that the church receives calls throughout the week from people
needing food at times when the regular food pantry is not open, it seems
this might be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
The wording on the outside of the box says it all - "Take what you need,
Bring what you can," but above all, Be Blessed!
We're happy to report that we have achieved our funding goal for the Jeffris Family Foundation Capital Fund. We will begin restoration later in the year after a contractor has been selected.
This scripture is the perfect summation of our capital funding efforts, from Ephesians 3:20:
all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within
us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
